Dover town (CT16, CT17)

The core round. Post-war rebuild through the town centre after the wartime damage, Victorian terraces above the harbour, and the Regency and early-Victorian belt along Marine Parade and Waterloo Crescent. Housing stock is mixed but the shared maintenance load is salt-humidity swelling on doors and frames, and salt-corroded fixings on any external elevation.

• Buckland - Victorian terraces above the harbour; salt-corroded gutter brackets are the running issue. Landmark: Buckland Bridge.
• Aycliffe - post-war and 1960s stock along the western edge; dot-and-dab plasterboard on the newer builds needs different fixings than the older core.
• Maxton and Elms Vale - interwar semis, larger gardens, ash-and-sycamore-fall risk on rural-facing boundaries. Landmark: Elms Vale allotments.
• River (CT17) - the Dour valley village on the town’s inland edge; mixed Victorian and post-war stock, moderate exposure. Landmark: Crabble Corn Mill.

The cliff-top belt (CT15)

The exposed properties along the White Cliffs edge from Dover round to Deal. Highest coastal-exposure load in the round - easterlies straight off the Channel, salt-heavy air year-round, and the tallest running maintenance load on external fixings and exposed timber. A4 stainless as default. Salt-primer on any exposed elevation. Bigger between-tenancy punch-lists for the absentee-owner second homes.

• St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe - classic cliff-top village, mixed cottages and Edwardian villas, high absentee-owner ratio. Landmark: South Foreland Lighthouse.
• Kingsdown - Regency and Georgian seafront cottages; heritage-joinery boundary applies here. Landmark: Kingsdown seafront.
• West Cliffe and Guston - downland-village edge, larger plots, rural-boundary ash-fall risk.
• Capel-le-Ferne - cliff-top belt west of the town; Battle of Britain memorial and exposed post-war stock. Landmark: Battle of Britain Memorial.

The downland villages (CT16 outer, CT17 upper)

The Nailbourne chalk-stream valley and the rolling country north-west of the town. Sheltered from the direct easterly load, but still on chalk substrate - and the older stock has the same Georgian and Victorian issues without the salt component. Cleaner brief on most jobs.

• Kearsney - Kearsney Abbey estate, Edwardian villas and mid-century semis, generous gardens. Landmark: Kearsney Abbey Gardens.
• Temple Ewell - old village core, mixed stock, moderate exposure. Landmark: Temple Ewell church.
• Whitfield - the largest of the downland villages, mixed post-war and modern estate. Landmark: Whitfield roundabout.
