Blocked, leaking or sagging gutters. Cracked downpipes. The classic autumn brown streak down the render because a hopper’s overflowing. Straightforward work, unglamorous, and expensive to leave.
£95 call-out, first hour included, £45 per hour after that - a single clearing or a full resealing job, you pay for the hours beyond the first.
Two Dover-specific gutter problems. First, the easterly wind pattern from mid-October blows leaf litter off the ash and sycamore into gutter runs at a rate you won’t see inland - particularly along the Elms Vale and Barton Road belts. Twice-yearly clearing (mid-November and late March) is more sensible here than the annual sweep you’d do further inland.
Second, salt-corroded fixings. The galvanised gutter brackets a builder put up in the 1990s along the seafront elevations of Marine Parade, Waterloo Crescent, and up on the cliff-top belt have mostly rusted through their fixings by now. Gutter runs sag, then leak at the joints. The right fix is a section reseat with A4 stainless. A2 stainless doesn’t last here.
If the gutter itself is beyond a section swap - a full run rotted through, or a fascia board that’s soft under the gutter and needs replacing before the gutter goes back - we quote the surrounding timber job (see timber repairs) or hand you to a roofer for a full re-gutter run.
