Service · Flat-pack & home fitting
IKEA and Argos flat-pack builds without the tantrum. Curtain poles and blinds. TV wall mounts up to 65-inch on solid wall (larger with structural check). Shelving on Victorian lath-and-plaster with the correct fixing method - the difference between a shelf that holds and one that comes off the wall in six months.
£95 call-out, first hour included, £45 per hour after that - one flat-pack piece or a full room fit-out, you’re billed for the hours worked beyond the first.
The Dover-specific gotcha on wall-mount work is the housing stock: the town centre and the Victorian belt above the seafront are lath-and-plaster on the internal walls, which most flat-pack instructions assume is either brick or plasterboard-on-stud. Neither is true - and a rawlplug that would hold in solid brick is useless in lath. The right method is a longer fixing driven through into the stud behind, or an adhesive-plus-fixing hybrid on cross-lath.
Get it wrong and the TV comes off the wall inside a year. Get it right - three minutes of thought before you drill - and it holds indefinitely. The newer stock at Whitfield and Aycliffe is dot-and-dab plasterboard: different problem, different fixings.
What we don’t do: full kitchen fits, worktop templating, integrated appliance installation with gas or plumbing. Kitchen fitting is a specialist trade and worth booking one for that. We’ll do the surrounding jobs - splashbacks, wall-mounted racks, upstands - but not the run itself.
